Sun, sea, sand - and of course who could forget Elvis? Acapulco - Las vegas by the sea - drums up in one's mind all that was once glitzy in the sixties and seventies.
Acapulco has been home to generations of stars - Taylor, Burton, the Kennedys, Sinatra and more recently the Clintons - and this immortal bay island area is a classic beach resort steeped in Hollywood folklore. Although today's tourist may opt for locations such as Cancun or Playa del Carmen, Acapulco still attracts millions of travellers each year and has an abundance of hotels, restaurants and nightclubs to guarantee a great holiday experience.
If you are planning on coming here to stay for a long period of time or to retire in Acapulco, you must have an income on which you can survive here. Working illegally is not the best way to go - if you are caught there is a very good chance that you will be deported immediately.
Working legally is not easy – working in pesos means low wages.
Things are done differently in Mexico and they aren't going to change for you. Schedules are a lot more lax than what you might be used to - tasks which back home might not take more than a few minutes, such as paying a phone or water bill, can stretch into days.
