Page 5 of 7 Oyster Bars and Fancy Meat PlacesThink mahogany and expensive Cuban cigars which, unlike the United States, are legal here. Once again, the quality and presentation is above average and very recommendable. One of the smallest of its type, but among the first and best is Bros Oyster Bar (5250-1325) in Polanco. Inside the Presidente Intercontinental hotel is The Palm (5327-7700) that, despite its fine US heritage, is both worse and more expensive than its competition in the City. Mexico has also become an important destination for Argentinean beef aficionados, with the biggest restaurant of its kind being the Rincón Argentino (5254-8744) on Masarik Avenue in, you guessed it, Polanco. Keeping with the fact that this area of town is the enclave of the Fancy Meat Places, the stuffiest of the group is Ruth's Chris Steak House (5395-5135/3474) of Houston fame. Inside the Santa Fe shopping mall is the cousin of the Rincón Argentino, the Rincón Santa Fe (5570-1803/1850) that, because of its mall surroundings, is the most casual of its type. For more Argentinian choices, try the Cambalache, with restaurants on Insurgentes (5534-5858), in Polanco (5280-2080) and in Vallejo in the north (5567-2209). If you're up for trying something a little different, Sir Winston Churchill's (5280-3217, 5280-6070) offers a typical English atmosphere with some classic English dishes like roast beef and Rockefeller oysters, as well as offering an excellent selection of wines.
