Health Services in Riviera Maya Ten years ago, the Riviera Maya was a relatively unchartered coast of cabana-lined beach towns sandwiched between the more popular Yucatan cities of Cancun and Cozumel. In terms of medical care nowadays, the system, like the zone, is growing and in a state of transition. Doctors are moving from Cancun to set up practice and clinics are being built, but the process is still in its nascent stages and lacks organization. Local clinics are often understaffed and overpriced, and we do not recommend that you go to the clinic without contacting a doctor first.
