If you are a U.S. expatriate living in Tijuana, it's more than likely you are there for the cheaper cost of living and that you already have a job across the border. This is the most common scenario for many of the 50,000 Americans living in Tijuana at present.
However, what if you don't want to make that trip across the border, or you're not from the United States? Job opportunities for foreigners in Mexico are quite limited, especially if you don't speak Spanish or don't carry a work visa, otherwise known as an FM3. One of the easiest options for a native English-speaking foreigner is to teach. In many cases a Bachelor's degree in any subject is sufficient to get you job as an English teacher; however, the better paid positions will demand a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language otherwise known as a TEFL. Generally, language schools will process your FM3 or at least write a letter to the immigration authorities confirming that you work for them.
