 Todos Santos (All Saints) is a Baja California oasis town that is a cultural, artistic and agricultural center. It is located a mile from the Pacific coast, just south of the Tropic of Cancer at the Sierra de la Laguna foothills. It is approximately one hour North of Cabo San Lucas and one hour South-West of La Paz via highway 19.
Since 1986 when the highway 19 was built, Todos Santos has become a tourist / retirement destination for American, Canadian and lately European artists with a growing number of art galleries, fine restaurants, shops, boutique hotels, unique vacation rentals and local festivals.
The surfers came for the unending white sandy beaches that provide access to some of the most famous surfing spots of the Baja coast. Chris Isaak recorded the Baja sessions CD here and the urban legend says that “the” Hotel California from the Eagles’ song is the one here in Todos Santos. This has been disproved by Don Henley himself, but the legend stuck. |
