Telephone Codes

Phone Numbers in MexicoAll local telephone numbers remain the same, as do 700, 800, 900 numbers. To call Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey from anywhere in Mexico you will need to dial 01 + a two-digit long distance code (Mexico City 55, Guadalajara 33, Monterrey 81) + the 8 digits of the phone number. For any calls to any other city in Mexico you must dial 01 + 3-digit long distance code + 7 digits of the phone number.

To call a cell phone in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey from anywhere in Mexico you will need to dial 044 + the two-digit long distance code (Mexico City 55, Guadalajara 33, Monterrey 81) + the 8 digits of the cell phone number. For calls to a cell phone in any other city in Mexico you must dial 044 + the 3-digit long distance code + the 7 digits of the cell phone number.

For long distance calls to cellphones you must dial 01 + a 2- or 3-digit code (new code) + the cell phone number.

To call Mexico from abroad you will need to dial the access code of the country you are in + 52 + the new long distance code + 7 or 8 digits (see above). If you would like more information on the new codes you can call 020 or 090.
