Doing Business in Chiapas

Mexico’s southernmost state is also one of the most fascinating ones. One of the poorest states in Mexico economically, Chiapas is enormously rich culturally. Chiapas offers a wealth of interesting cultural experiences spanning ancient civilizations and modern indigenous culture. Thirty-two percent of the population is indigenous, and the state became notorious during the 1994 Zapatista uprising. Predominantly rural, Chiapas’ most important products include coffee, corn and sugar. The capital Tuztla Gutiérrez has one of Mexico´s best zoos.
