Because of its diverse geography, from highlands and jungles to coastal lands, Nayarit has a rich agricultural industry and produces beans, corn, rice, mangos, bananas and tobacco. The tobacco is processed in the cigarette factories located in the state capital Tepic. Nayarit is an important supplier in Mexico of shrimp, shark and oysters, and the town of San Blas is a popular fishing spot for tourists.
