Canadian Mexican Aliance For Labor Cooperation

Canada and Mexico consolidate governmental alliances for labor cooperation. Lisa Raitt, head of the Labor Ministry of Canada addressed the members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico at an opening event of her two week agenda in Latin America.

 

Minister Raitt will visit México, Brazil, Colombia and Peru to highlight the advantages of cooperation and collaboration alliances in labor issues.

We have a compromise to work along with Latin American governments to support and strengthen labor laws in the region. These efforts will enhance efficiency and economic productivity. "We are proud of having Mexico and the US as partners under the parallel labor agreement signed along with NAFTA.

 

Minister Raitt was also involved in a bilateral meeting with her Mexican counterpart, Javier Lozano Alarcón, Mexicos Labor Minister (Secretario del Trabajo y Previsión Social). In this meeting both leaders confirmed their compromises to keep working towards international cooperation in labor matters. Minister Raitt also met with representatives of the private and union sectors in Mexico to discuss health, security and positive labor relationships. Canada is working to completely eliminate forced and child labor and improve occupational health and security.
