The key difference when it comes to properties and resorts in the Mayan Riviera compared to Cancun are several fold. The Mayan Riviera has a low rise coastline therefore buildings are limited to three stories which is in stark contrast to the Las Vegas style hotels that line Cancun's oceanfront. Resorts are also very ecologically conscious in the Mayan Riviera. Expect botanical gardens, aviaries, freshwater lagoons, snorkelling inlets all set within acres of mangroves. This is the land where you come to relax and for many an ideal place to retire especially if you have a passion for marine life.
