Health and Safety in Mexico

Everybody knows you can go scuba diving in Mexico’s seas (Cortes and Caribbean) and ocean coastlines (Pacific and Atlantic). However, hardly anyone knows that you can go scuba diving in a spring lake at 3,200 feet of altitude in the middle of the country, which is also a desertic and semi desertic region. Many of us had never heard about Laguna Media Luna (Half Moon Lagoon) just outside of a small town named Rio Verde (Green River) in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Fiesta Americana Hacienda Galindio in Queretaro, Mexico is what used to be the Hacienda that Hernan Cortes gave to his wife the Malinche in the 16th century. The Malinche is the name given to Cortes native wife.

Travel Mexico and its colorful Haciendas scattered all over the country. Historic Hacienda Vista Hermosa in Tequesquitengo, Morelos was built by Hernan Cortes during the conquest of Mexico in 1529. King Carlos V of Spain rewarded Cortes with a nobility title, 23,000 slaves and enormous extensions of land. The Hacienda was the center of economic and cultural activities and life in the region during centuries.

Traveling Mexico is a unique experience due to its hundreds of wonderful natural gifts found all over the country. The most modern, comfortable passenger train in Mexico travels along the Chihuahua - Pacifico railway, also known as the Copper Canyon Train or “ChePe” (Chihuahua Pacific). The 14 hour trip connects the mountainous desertic arid interior of northern Mexico with the magnificent Pacific coast, passing through canyon walls, cascades and waterfalls, high desert plains and the imposing landscapes of the Sierra Tarahumara.

In the southeast of Mexico, surrounded by the clear blue waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, lies the peninsula of the Yucatan, where the great Mayan culture once flourished amidst tropical forests. A 35 minute drive from the international airport of Merida, the state capital, lies “Hacienda Temozon Sur”.

This magic towns name comes from the nahuatl Huascazaloyam that means place of birds, water, vegetation and happiness, adopting de Ocampo in honor of the celebrated Mexican politician by the name of Melchor Ocampo, who lived in this place for a few years.
