Health Services in Tijuana

Located across the border from San Diego, Tijuana has gained a reputation as a raucous nightspot for military personnel on leave and young Southern Californians. It is also known as a major port for drug trafficking into the United States. Although Tijuana can be considered relatively safe, violent crime has been on the rise in recent years and people are advised to travel with a companion or two and stay away from more desolate parts of the city especially at night.

In response to demand, the streets of Tijuana are lined with pharmacies that dole out prescription drugs to North Americans seking low-cost pharmaceuticals. For medical care, we recommend making the short trip to San Diego. For those with Mexican health insurance or if emergency attention is needed, we highly recommend Hospital del Prado. This hospital has all the modern amenities and most of our recommended doctors have praticed or trained in the United States or Europe.

Hospital del Prado is a family business, owned and operated by three physician-siblings who inherited the hospital from their parents. The facility is well equipped and ewell staffed with many board-certified, English-speaking physicians. Recent renovations have contributed to an elegant interior decor. For anything but the most rare of medical conditions we recommend this hopsital and its doctors without reservation.
