Of the two Cabos, San José is the more sedate. Among activities available there is horseback riding across the sandy beaches, golf and shopping in an authentic Mexican atmosphere.
This last point is key: San José was populated by working-class Mexicans who service the hospitality industry and it was not meant to be a resort town.
Today, however, San José has plenty of good restaurants (Morgan’s, La Dolce, El Chilar, Don Emilianos, Tropicana, etc.) and one good thing about the town is that it is centered around a traditional “Zócalo”, or central square, with its cathedral and Victorian gazebo.
