To promote the launch of its Preferred Customer Unit, Mexican bank Bancomer held a private event at Mexico City's Rufino Tamayo Museum where guests were given exclusive access to the museum's vast collection of contemporary art and also enjoyed a wine-tasting session afterwards.
Bancomer, which is the nation's second-largest bank, is targeting the ever-growing market of expatriates who are living in Mexico. Their mandate is to provide fast and prioritized attention in English to foreign clients by assigning a Personal Account Executive whose job it is to provide all the banking and financial advice you require and promptly tend to all your needs regarding products, services and solutions.
Recent estimates calculate there are almost a million American and Canadians living in Mexico with the vast majority made up of baby boomers and snow birds. Bancomer is acutely aware that this market has been neglected for far too long and via its Preferred Customer Unit is making a concerted effort to bridge the language gap for many foreigners who don't speak Spanish but would like to organize their banking needs locally.
One of the guest speakers at the event was an American national who had retired in Los Cabos. Despite being a fairly fluent Spanish speaker he made the point that before Bancomer's Preferred Customer Unit it had been very difficult for him to communicate all his inquiries regarding stocks, bonds, commodities and securities in Spanish. Infact, before he was able to sign up with Bancomer he did all his banking online via a bank in the United States but he expressed that nothing could beat the personal touch in English, especially for foreign retirees like himself, that Bancomer now provides.
The Rufino Tamayo Museum, which is in the heart of Mexico City, sits on Avenida Reforma alongside the Museum of Modern Art, the Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec Park. The museum was named after celebrated Zapotecan Indian painter Rufino Tamayo who hailed from the Southern Mexican state of Oaxaca and was officially opened in 1981. The museum houses some of Mexico's best contemporary art as well as donated works from Tamayo and his wife Olga's private collection.
