Mexico has one of the largest road networks in Latin America. It has spent massively in the past twenty years in improving its infrastructure which has included the building of new highways and more recently railtracks. A majority of these expressways are toll roads (with charges depending on how far the road strecthes between each toll booth).
While Mexico's railroads are slowly being renovated - a high-speed rail link between Mexico City and Queretaro is slated to start operating within the next few years - people generally travel by buses between cities. The nation boasts an excellent bus system that is efficient, cost effective and safe. In comparison to the United States, buses in Mexico are a lot more comfortable and cheaper than Greyhound buses.
